Ariane

Ariane is the director of the course Applied Photography (Toegepaste Fotografie) at the Fotoacademie in Amsterdam, where she also works as an instructor. For the course Applied Photography, she created the curriculum and lesson materials. This field of study is a practical vocational training, which is part of the Fotoacademie’s course offerings.

Ariane also regularly gives lectures about a variety of topics.

In her independent work, Ariane continues to be fascinated by infrared photography. For this technique, she works with converted digital cameras. The series Diary (Dagboek) is about the interweaving with the landscape. In this series of self-portraits, Ariane shares her personal experiences.

Ariane started her career as a professional cellist.  She graduated from the conservatory in Rotterdam with diplomas in teaching and solo performance, and she obtained her diploma in chamber music performance at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.   With the Icarus Ensemble she toured in Japan, Sweden, the U.S and other countries.  The CD of the Icarus Ensemble won a Diapason d’Or.
