Ariane organizes and manages the curriculum at Fotogram in Amsterdam, and also creates tailor-made workshops and courses for individuals and corporations.  As a freelance photographer/On commission, she creates photographs of valuable musical instruments (The Strad), antique interiors (Amstel Hotel) and cultural artefacts.  Ariane’s work also includes portrait photography, family portraits, and documentary photography, such as wedding photography.

In her independent work, Ariane continues to pursue her fascination with pinhole and infrared photography.

Ariane continually expands the boundaries of the medium photography, for example, by creating photo poems, a moving combination of text and image.  An exhibition of Ariane’s infrared photography, entitled Tegenlicht (Backlight), has opened in March, 2016.

Ariane started her career as a professional cellist.  She graduated from the Rotterdam Conservatory with diplomas in teaching and solo performance, and she obtained her diploma in chamber music performance from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.  As a cellist, Ariane toured in Japan, Sweden and the U.S.A.  She recorded a CD with the Icarus Ensemble, which won a Diapason d’Or award.

After many years of combining photography with her cello career, Ariane chose to focus on photography as her career.
